Carved Candle Care
First Burn Instructions (Carved Candles w/ Wick Only)
Your candle does not come with a well to insert your electric tea light or votive candle. It has a cotton wick. You will perform the following steps on your first burn to create the well. We can pre drill a bottom well and an electric tea light can be added for an additional charge. We are unable to drill the top due to risk of ruining the candle design.
1. Make sure your wick is free of any wax or gloss coating and trim to 1/4 inch.
2. Burn candle for 10 to 20 minutes, extinguish flame, and then quickly turn the candle upside down to empty the melted wax. This creates the well. Let candle completely cool each time you repeat steps 1 - 3.
3. Ensure to once again trim the wick to 1/4 inch before repeating this process. Not trimming the wick will cause an oval well and not a round one, which could damage the outer candle. The process will need to be repeated until you have a 3 inch deep well in the center of the candle.
4. After completing step three, trim the candle wick flush with the bottom of the well and do not burn again. Your candle is now ready for an electric tea light or votive.
**If your votive or tea light does not quite fit, you can gently manipulate the wax to stretch using your finger. Be sure to empty the melted wax and allow the candle to slightly cool before touching it. Wax will be warm, not hot a few minutes after extinguishing and dumping the melted wax. Gently push around the inside of the circular well in a circular motion to stretch the wax. Tea lights and votives that are 1.25 to 1.5 inches wide typically fit.
Using Regular Tea Lights and Votives
You can use regular tea lights and votives that are scented or unscented in your candle, but all remnants of these candles must be removed when they are no longer able to be burned. Always ensure to trim tea light and votive wicks to 1/4 inch (or follow manufacturer burning instructions) to prevent damaging your candle. Do not use colored votives, as they can stop the glowing effect of the candle. Do not burn longer than one hour per session.
Refilling with Liquid Parrafin
You can also fill your well with liquid parrafin and use a lamp oil wick. Follow manufacturer safety instructions for lamp oil and wicks. Do not burn longer than one hour per session.
Regular Candle Burning
You can choose to burn your dip and carve candle. However, always follow safety instructions. Place candle on a fire safe plate. Trim wick to 1/4 inch before each burn. Empty the melted wax the first one or two burns to ensure you have a slight well in the candle so that wax does not spill over into your design (see first burn instructions steps 1 and 2 above). Do not burn longer than two hours per sitting. Do not burn wick lower than 4 inches from the bottom of the candle. Replace with a tea light or votive candle when you reach this depth. Your candle design may melt when burning as a regular candle. Keep away from pets, children, and fabrics. Do not leave unattended.
Candle Cleaning and Storage
Be sure not to drop or bump your candle. It can be damaged if mishandled. The candle gloss on your outer candle design prevents dust from collecting on the outside of the candle. To clean your candle wipe gently with a cold damp cloth.
Carved Candle Safety
During your first burn, while creating your well, and if using any type of product with open flame, always keep away from fabrics, pets, and children. Never leave a burning candle unattended! Always use a candle stand or plate when burning your candle, or when using any open flame products to refill your candle. Always ensure wicks are trimmed to 1/4 inch before each burn. Failure to follow these care and safety instructions can result in fire, property damage, and ruin your keepsake candle. Burn responsibly and your candle will last for years! Hemp Wick Candles LLC is not responsible for any damage or injury resulting from this product.

Only use paraffin lamp oil.
Do not fill chamber more that 3/4 full.
